Early changes in alpha band power and DMN BOLD activity in Alzheimer's disease: a simultaneous resting state EEG-fMRI study
Simultaneous resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI)-resting state electroencephalography (rsEEG) studies in healthy adults showed robust positive associations of signal power in the alpha band with BOLD signal in the thalamus, and more heterogeneous associations in cortical default mode network (DMN) regions. Negative associations were found in occipital regions. In Alzheimer's disease (AD), rsfMRI studies revealed a disruption of the DMN, while rsEEG studies consistently reported a reduced power within the alpha band. The present study is the first to employ simultaneous rsfMRI-rsEEG in an AD sample, investigating the association of alpha band power and BOLD signal, compared to healthy controls (HC). We hypothesized to find reduced positive associations in DMN regions and reduced negative associations in occipital regions in the AD group. Simultaneous resting state fMRI-EEG was recorded in 14 patients with mild AD and 14 HC, matched for age and gender. Power within the EEG alpha band (8-12 Hz, 8-10 Hz, and 10-12 Hz) was computed from occipital electrodes and served as regressor in voxel-wise linear regression analyses, to assess the association with the BOLD signal. Compared to HC, the AD group showed significantly decreased positive associations between BOLD signal and occipital alpha band power in clusters in the superior, middle and inferior frontal cortex, inferior temporal lobe and thalamus (p < 0.01, uncorr., cluster size ≥ 50 voxels). This group effect was more pronounced in the upper alpha sub-band, compared to the lower alpha sub-band. Notably, we observed a high inter-individual heterogeneity. Negative associations were only reduced in the lower alpha range in the hippocampus, putamen and cerebellum. The present study gives first insights into the relationship of resting-state EEG and fMRI characteristics in an AD sample. The results suggest that positive associations between alpha band power and BOLD signal in numerous regions, including DMN regions, are diminished in AD
POEMS Syndrome: Real World Experience in Diagnosis and Systemic Therapy - 108 Patients Multicenter Analysis
POEMS syndrome, a rare plasma cell disorder, is challenging both in the diagnostic and therapeutic management. We present real word retrospective analysis of 108 cases analyzing clinical features and therapeutic modes. We compare our results with the available literature. This is the first description with such wide use of proteasome inhibitors in first line treatment. POEMS (Polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, M-protein, skin changes) syndrome is a rare and challenging plasma cell disorder, both in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of the disease. Currently, the literature on POEMS is sparse with most evidence being case reports and small case studies. We present a retrospective real world experience of 108 patients with POEMS. We analyzed the clinical features and therapeutic interventions. Regarding clinical features, our findings demonstrated that skin lesions, thrombocythemia and polycythemia were present less frequently than reported previously. Regarding clinical interventions, this is one of the largest analyses of front line treatment in POEMS and the first one to include frequent utilization of proteasome inhibitors (37%). Bortezomib monotherapy was the most effective therapy achieving complete remission/very good partial remissions (CR/VGPR) in 69% of patients. Thirty percent of patients proceeded to planned autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) as part of the front-line treatment resulting in statistically superior progression-free (PFS) and overall survival (OS) compared to non-ASCT treated patients (P= .003). In multivariate analysis, anemia, thrombocytopenia, and as age over 60 were associated with a negative impact on patient outcomes

Des mots aux syntagmes: Figements et variations dans la Résolution générale du congrès de la CGT de 1978
International audienceA program for the automatic description of morphosyntactic set expressions is presented here. Its results are analysed as applied to the CGT union resolution of 1978 for the description of which it was set up. It starts wich an automatic grammatical categorisation of minimal written forms. Then, with a dictionary, it builds the set of the compound lexical items in the text, i.e. the set forms which recur (for some of them) in the text. Minimal written forms are in this way disambiguated, lemmatised, grouped into larger units where necessary. Examples are given : treatment of être, and of complex determiners. They show the properties of the program. The various types of set expressions - textual and/or en langae-that can be distinguished are then examined.

Surface alloying upon Co intercalation between graphene and Ir(111)
International audienceUsing X-ray reflectivity, grazing incidence X-ray diffraction, scanning tunneling microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, we investigate the morphology of Co ultra-thin films grown at room temperature on Ir(111) and graphene/Ir(111) surfaces, a system of interest in view of novel nanomagnetism and spintronics systems. When Co/graphene/Ir(111) heterostructures are annealed at 570 K, Co intercalates below the graphene layer. Subsequent annealing to 770 K leads to Co and Ir intermixing and formation of a surface alloy extending over a thickness of about 2–3 monolayers
